Cheap Fly Fishing Rods
which fly rod?
hi, can anyone recomend a good fast, tip action fly rod which isnt a crazy price to buy. At the minute im using a 10 foot, 8wt shakespeare odyssey fly for fishing mostly loughs. Im not so well up on which makes of fly rod are good and i hear a lot of people saying that some of the expensive rods are overpriced and that a cheaper one would throw a line just as well if not better.
As far as I’m aware the Shakespeare oddessy is a medium to fast action, so i assume your making the switch to tip action rods? well Ive learned a bit in my time fly fishing that very often you do get what you pay for, what price range were you considering? the best link i can give you is to Glasgow angling center, shop around as they can get too expensive.
if you want a quality rod i recomend the greys G-Tec, it isnt too badly priced and has a nice smooth tip action

If they are out of your price range go for the greys GRXI rods, they are a quality rod at a good price. I dont recommend the greys G-series, although its a good rod at a very low price it doesnt have a tip action and isntead is middle to tip action.
My choice if i was you would be this, the Sharpes of Aberdeen, Gordon rod, they have a quick tip action and for a low price, they are well made and worth a look at

The last rod is suggest you look at and consider is the diawa wilderness, i was sent one of these as a gift from a very good friend of mine in the UK, i have the travel rod version but the other models are execellent for the price.
If you fish allot of the time and want a comfortable rod with a great tip action then is suggest the sage z-axsis, i own one and to be honest i fish with hardly anything else.
Last rod you may like to look at is this, the sage launch, it has all the features of the top end rods but at a lower price and a life time warranty, my son has one and even though he is starting out the tip action is great (4 sections although this doesnt really affect new fly rods)

Usually beginners find it hard to look for the best fly fishing rods they need to use in fly fishing. It is because fly rods have different types for every fishing situation.
